Introduction - The Preamble defines India as a Sovereign Secular Social  Democratic Republic. A Preamble is an integral part of the Constitution, which states that the aims and objectives of the Constitution. In a nutshell, it is said to be "the most precious part of the Constitution", "key of the Constitution", "a proper yardstick for the proper understandig of the Constitution".  Preamble contains the basic Philosophy of the Constitution. The Preamble indicates the source, from which the Constitution devices authority and it also experience the objective, which the Constitution seeks of promote the Preamble.

Preamble of the Indian Constitution

Preamble of the Indian Constitution reads as follows :
    
  WE, THE PEOPLE OF INDIA,have solemnly resolved to constitute India into a
SOVEREIGN SOCIALIST SECULAR DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC
and to secure all its citizens:
JUSTICE, social, economic and political;
Liberty of thought, expression, belief, faith and worship;
EQUALITY of status and opportunity; and to promote among them all;
FRATERNITY assuring dignity of the Individual and the unity and integrity of the Nation;
IN OUR CONSTITUENT ASSEMBLY,this twenty-sixth day of November,1949,
Adopted HEREBY ADOPT, ENACT AND GIVE TO OURSELVES THIS CONSTITUTION.
